Roastery · est. 2017

Coffee, served slowly.

Ember & Oak roasts in small batches in our shop in Strathcona, and pours across three neighbourhood cafés. We are baristas first and coffee snobs second.

What we do

Three things, every day.

01

We roast.

Five-kilo batches on a 1968 Probat. Beans from named farms only, traceable to the lot.

02

We pour.

Across three small cafés in Vancouver. Espresso and filter both done well. No syrup pumps.

03

We feed.

Pastry from the Strathcona bakery next door. Toast, eggs, and a soup of the day at the West End café.

Single origin

This month: Finca La Esperanza.

A washed Bourbon from Cauca, Colombia, brought in by our importer this winter. Notes of apricot, brown sugar, and a long finish that tastes like Earl Grey.

Best brewed as filter, but it espresses beautifully too.
